Retro Computing / Sinclair Computers / The ZX Spectrum +2A (1987)
Z80 @ 3.5Mhz – 64KB ROM – 128KB RAM
Based around the ZX Spectrum +3, the +2A replaced the diskette drive with another cassette drive. The thinking behind releasing a Spectrum +2 look-a-like only 1 year later, was to build the +3 and +2A computers around the same platform. The same ROMs that existed in the +3, now existed in the +2A – and also included all the incompatibility problems too. The ports were also the same as it’s sibling, with a standard Amstrad power socket & RGB port that included sound (and also inconsistencies with the +2′s monitor port.)
Even though the +3 was the last production Spectrum to be made, the +2A was the last released machine from the Spectrum stables.
