After it was first made public that Microsoft would be working on it’s own anti-virus/malware program last November, the public have been eagerly awaiting the release.
Of course, there are lots of companies that already have a huge stake in the anti-virus market (McAfee, Kaspersky, Symantec) that are stamping their feet and shouting about “anti-competitiveness.” Thinking about it, if Microsoft had a rock-steady OS these other companies would be struggling selling their security software anyway, and it’s only by Microsoft’s inability to jump on this problem earlier that has meant there’s ever been a business model for them to capitalise on.
Back to the story though, the project nicknamed “Morro” is due for release within weeks apparently – sounds like the perfect accompaniment for the Windows 7’s launch?
