bit.ly To Become j.mp?
I’ve just been using my favourite URL shortener, bit.ly, and something funny seems to be going on with the service..
It seems to have quickly switched to being resolved to j.mp! And then the site goes down for a short while – I’m guessing the creators of bit.ly realised the error. After a short time, j.mp and the original bit.ly both came back up.
So now there are 2 sites – one called bit.ly, and another resolving with j.mp. I guess a brand change from bit.ly, with the added advantage of even less characters to type! Genius.
Another change, which must be a temporary problem, is bit.ly or j.mp are not tracking clicks. But also, interestingly, you can log onto j.mp with your bit.ly details and still see your link history. I guess it’s going to be j.mp then!
