Atari Lynx Retro Advert

In true Tech Snake form, I give to you another retro tech advert!

This one is for the grey beast that was the Atari Lynx. A "handheld" console, released at the same time as the Nintendo Gameboy in 1989, Atari thought it to be a winner with full screen backlit colour graphics. However I think what let the system down ultimately was the size, price and availability (of the console and new games).

Looking at the advert, there are two things that really strike me about it – 1, how big are the pockets that kid has in his jacket? And 2, how does he get a power supply in a school toilet??

    I remember that advert differently: I remember a NUMBER of kids going to the toilets and passing a wire under the cubicle, and having a multi-player game (I think up to four players could link those consoles).

    Did I invent my version of that advert in my head or something? :-/ …Or did they make another version more like the one I remember? If I invented it, then my advert is clearly better, and maybe the thing didn’t sell so well because they should have used it but didn’t. :)

    It makes sense I think, it would at least explain the wire coming from the Lynx in the advert!
