Google enter the browser market and turns 10 in the same month

e public eye.

The Google Phone

The G1, manufactured by HTC and sold through T-Mobile was the first to take advantage of Google’s Android mobile operating system. I say first, because more are on the cards (including one soon to be announced by Samsung) and also because battery life was awful for the G1, so would be criminal if we didn’t see something a little better designed by somebody else soon.

Jerry Yang To Leave Yahoo!

After the complete cock-up between Microsoft and Yahoo! Jerry Yang would either have to leave or be pushed. Whichever it was, this month saw the founder of Yahoo! announce his step-down from the company. This news itself propelled the company stock to an all-time low of just under 9 dollars a share. A big difference to Microsoft’s offer earlier in the year of 31 dollars.

Chrome goes “Version 1” and Internet Explorer gets “security flaws”

Uncanny – less than a week apart, Chrome gets a Version 1 stamp, after Google have achieved everything they intended for the first release. And in the same breath a serious security flaw in Internet Explorer meant that Microsoft had to rush to get a fix out – which they managed the next day.

I hope you’ve enjoyed a little trip back in time over the last 12 months here at Tech Snake and in the world of tech in general. See you all next year!
