Here we go.. As I reported yesterday, the service pack for Vista is available today. The download is a whopping 434Mb for the 32 bit version, but that is obviously all the updates since the release of Vista – to bring everyone up to date. If you choose to download through Windows update, I’m sure the download will be significantly less if you’ve kept up to date with your fixes. In fact, a contributing author to this blog, Dazza, has reported that his current download is only within the region of 69Mb. Much easier to swallow I think you’ll all agree.
It is worth noting, though, that some of you won’t have the option to update your copy of Windows to the latest Service Pack. This is due to the bug mentioned in a previous post, that actually delayed SP1, whereby one of Microsoft’s updates would cause the machine to enter an infinite loop. Thankfully Window’s Update successfully detects the drivers responsible and delays the update until these problems have been fixed (by the hardware manufacturers.) [SHOW ME]
